The Government of the Federal District has called a public hearing for the tender for the cover of the Mané Garrincha National Stadium, in Brasília. The estimated value of this item has been placed at R$ 175 million, and this means that the total cost of the Arena, now placed at R$ 743.5 million, should rise by 23%.
This price estimate is from the City Planning Company for the New Capital of Brazil (Companhia Urbanizadora da Nova Capital do Brasil - Novacap). The total cost of this stadium should thus come to some R$ 918 million, and this is not even including items such as the field itself and the 71 thousand seats of the Brasília arena.
The tender has been scheduled for December 12th and the tender will be based on the lowest price (the winner will be the building firm that makes the lowest offer to carry out the work). The roof of the stadium will have photovoltaic panels to capture solar energy and will also be made from tensioned canvas.
Separately
The measure taken by the Government of the Federal District has an explanation: the decision taken was that of making a tender for complementary items separately, to reduce costs.
Thus, the total cost of the stadium grows, but the value, if the tender of all the components of the Arena had been made together, would have been even higher, according to Novacap.
