Four out of the six pre-selected stadiums for the Confederations Cup have works faster in 2012. Arena Fonte Nova, at the forefront, advanced 21% in the first four months of the year, from 35% in December to 56% in April.

Mineirão is the second place, with an increase of 16% over the same period. Maracanã and Arena Pernambuco come right away, beside Itaquerão, all with an increase of 13%.

In Brasília and Fortaleza, the pace of work progress was the lowest among the arenas for the World Cup test tournament. Mané Garrincha went from 50% to 54%, while Castelão jumped from 50% to 62.5%.

Salvador and Recife still depend on the fulfillment of the work schedule to ensure participation in the 2013 tournament. The FIFA’s decision will take place in June.

Three stadiums had almost the same progression: Manaus increased 9% (reaching 39%), Arena Pantanal increased 8% (43% complete) and Arena das Dunas rose 7%. The Natal’s stadium is the latest work for the World Cup, with only 22% of completion.

In Porto Alegre, the renovation of Beira-Rio was resumed after 260 days of interruption, between June 2011 and March this year. The current index of the work is 30%.

Curitiba was the last host city to begin the operations. Works on Arena da Baixada began in October last year and was 52% completed on April.

In contrast, Cuiabá is the host city with the works in progress for the longest time, since early May 2010.

Faster
The pace of the works in the second half of 2011 was higher than the one presented earlier this year. Between June and October, four stadiums had progression greater than the 21% of Fonte Nova in the early months of 2012. Castelão and Mineirão advanced 30%. Mané Garrincha and Maracanã, in second place, were at 23%.

The works of Itaquerão and Arena Pernambuco are the most stable. In São Paulo and Recife, the index grew by around 12% in the last four months, just as what had occurred between June and October 2011. However, the construction of Arena Corinthians began after, 11 months ago. The new stadium of Pernambuco has been at work since July 2010.
