This Friday (3rd), the Odebrecht building firm started a new phase of construction work for the construction of the new Corinthians stadium. The workers at the Itaquerão, which is being constructed in the East Zone of São Paulo, have installed the foundation slabs of the West Building.
This is the first of the seven floors of this part of the building, whose basement shall be used as a car park for 929 vehicles.
The West side is the most sophisticated part of the Itaquera arena. This is the sector where the special boxes (camarotes) shall be constructed, as well as restaurants and the Press Section.
However, the work on the opposite side, in the East Building, is even further ahead. In the East section, we are already witnessing the installation of the first steps of the stands, making it possible to get an idea of the final shape of the Corinthians Arena.
To speed up the rhythm of construction, Odebrecht has implemented a new working day structure in this month of January. Right now, approximately 1,200 workers work in shifts that, taken together, take up nearly 22 hours per day.
This means that the work has registered 25% progress within the space of eight months. According to the construction firm, a total of 516 blocks have been created and also 63 pillars and 86 raker slabshave been installed.
