Still striving to convince FIFA that the city can be one of the venues of the Confederations Cup in 2013, the Arena Pernambuco shall have its factory of premolded components expanded and also an addition of 400 workers at the work site over the next few months.
According to the World Cup Secretariat in Pernambuco (Secopa), currently a total of 2,115 employees are divided in two shifts (day and night), but this figure should rise to 2,500 in February.
In addition, Odebrecht, which is the construction firm responsible for the arena, has announced the expansion of the pre-moulded unit and also the installation of an own unit for cutting and folding steel. This is all so that the structure of the stadium, which is now 28.5% completed, can progress in giant strides in 2012.
Located in the city of São Lourenço da Mata, in the metropolitan region of Recife, the stadium has already witnessed the completion of land leveling work, while the foundations are now nearing completion. In all, the Arena Pernambuco now has 30% of its work complete.
