Castelão advances schedule and has completed 50% of the work

The stadium in Fortaleza is still the most advanced in preparation for the 2014 FIFA World Cup

With more than half the work now completed, the Castelão stadium in Fortaleza has confirmed its status as the most advanced stadium in preparation for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™. After the delivery of the first two stages on November 11th, the work closed the month of November with 50.09% of the execution completed.

According to the consortium of companies Galvão Engenharia and Andrade Mendonça, the third stage of the work has already been started. This refers to the construction of the central building which will be home to the intelligence system, the VIP areas, the media center, the monitoring sector and also the changing rooms.

In the fourth and last stage, there will be the completion of the work on the stadium and also the integration between the internal and the external areas. The two phases will be executed at the same time.

So far, the phases are respectively 38.34% and 13.29% complete. The forecast is that by the end of 2011 about 54% of the construction work will have been completed.

Cobertura
Em dezembro, as colunas de sustentação da cobertura começarão a ser instaladas. Segundo o secretário estadual da Copa, Ferruccio Feitosa, ela terá 36 mil metros quadrados e cobrirá 100% dos espectadores do estádio.

“O teto cobre todos os assentos e, para fazer este trabalho, contratamos uma empresa com expertise na área, que construiu quatro estádios da Eurocopa de 2008 e está fazendo um para a mesma competição em 2012”, afirmou Feitosa.

Custo
A obra está orçada em R$ 518,6 milhões, com previsão de entrega em dezembro de 2012. Seis meses depois, o estádio receberá jogos da Copa das Confederações (incluindo uma das semifinais). Durante o Mundial, o Castelão será palco de seis partidas, incluindo duas da seleção brasileira.
