On this Thursday (September 8th), the Minister of Sports, Orlando Silva, stated in the Jornal Nacional TV news that the government approved the change in the proposed transport means included in the Responsibilities Chart for World Cup 2014, for the cities of Salvador (“surface metro”) and Cuiabá (LRT).

But, he warned that the governors must compromise themselves, in writing, to complete the works until the beginning of World Cup. The minister also said that some projects will be canceled and admitted that the pace of works is a concern of the government.

“This is a matter that worries us. We have discussed with the city and state governments on who is in charge of the project execution, but we are confident that the pace must be accelerated and let the cities achieve these goals,” stated the minister.

The Government of Mato Grosso informed that the basic LRT project preparation should be completed by the end of the month, considering the delivery until December 2013. By its turn, the Government of Bahia informed that the transportation works must start in 2012 and should be completed until April 2014.
