Military Police officers of Distrito Federal (DF) are attending a course to learn how the piracy industry operates and how is made the distribution and sale of bootleg products in Distrito Federal and surrounding cities. The course agenda also include topics to instruct the officers how to differentiate the bootleg product from the genuine one. The training started yesterday (2) and will be finished today (3), and was promoted by the Secretariat of Public and Social Order of DF (Seops) and by the Ministry of Justice (MJ).
For Major Alencar, at Seops, the course is fundamental for the formation of the police officers. "This is the biggest course for qualification of new agents, which has never been conducted in any other location of the country. These new agents will be formed with qualification to fight against this kind of disorder.”
The major emphasized the importance of fighting against piracy in a time in which the country is being prepared to host the World Cup 2014. “FIFA [International Soccer Federation] recommends total prevention of this kind of disorder [sale of bootleg products] close to stadiums and we must correct many other things in DF.” All in all, 1,400 police officers that have newly entered the corporation will be qualified.
Today (3), Paulo Abrão, Chairman of the National Council for Fighting Against Piracy (CNCP), and Agnelo Queiroz, Governor of Distrito Federal, will sign the amendment term of the cooperation agreement for the Cidade Livre de Pirataria (Piracy-Free City) project. Brasília entered in the project in 2010.
