The State Superintendence for the Environment in Ceará (Semace) issued in the last Wednesday (20) the environmental license for the renewal and expansion of Pinto Martins International Airport, in Fortaleza.
The works include the expansion, renewal and modernization of the passenger terminal, adequacy of the traffic system and expansion of the aircraft parking area, in addition to complementary works. Estimated investments amount to R$ 349.71 million.
According to Infraero, which is the company that manages the airport, two work execution phases were planned. The first must be completed by the end of 2013, increasing the current capacity of 2.8 million to 9 million passengers per year.
For the second phase, the estimated final capacity must reach 14.2 million passengers per year until the conclusion of the works in 2016.
