The Local Organizing Committee (Comitê Organizador Local - COL) for the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ has today (22 February) confirmed that the cities of Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Salvador and São Paulo will also be subvenues of the men’s and women’s soccer matches in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, to be held in Rio de Janeiro.

“Apart from Rio, Olympic soccer will be played in additional four or five cities”, said Rodrigo Paiva, the communications director of COL, during the General Seminar of World Cup Host Cities, held this Tuesday (22 February) in Brasília.

According to the COL, the Maracanã stadium will host the finals of the tournament. The stadiums to receive the secondary games will be the same ones to be used in the 2014 FIFA World Cup™: Itaquerão (São Paulo), Arena Fonte Nova (Salvador), Mineirão (Belo Horizonte) and Mané Garrincha (Brasília).
