Pernambuco Arena receives installation permit

The installation permit authorizing the construction of Pernambuco Arena was released on Monday (13th) by the State Agency of Environment and Water Resources (CPRH).

The authorization was what was missing for the Pernambuco Arena SPE (Special Purpose Entity) fulfilled the expectation of starting works of foundations in January and continuing the stadium construction schedule. The embankment on the 52-hectares site began in late October.

The Government signed a contract with companies Odebrecht, ISG and AEG six months ago. However, the permits were released in stages. First, the mounting of the construction site was released. Then there was the authorization for embankment and now the final stage in the licensing process for the works of the stadium was completed.

Pernambuco Arena will be built in São Lourenço da Mata, located in the metropolitan region of Recife. With capacity for 46 thousand fans, the stadium will cost R$ 464 million.

The financing of Brazilian Development Bank (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico Social - BNDES) for the work is still pending. The coordinator of the 2014 World Cup Pernambuco Committee and the secretary of the Civil House, Ricardo Leitão, said that the guarantees provided for the loan were insufficient.
