After the demolition of the Fonte Nova, on August 29, inside the work site where the former stadium used to be, work continues at full throttle.
While machines and workers work to make use of the generated by the old stadium - approximately 35 thousand tons of steel and concrete - the site is being prepared to receive the first foundations of the new stadium.
“The foundation work shall be started in about 40 days, together with the completion of the recycling process”, said Dênio Cidreira, the President of the Arena Fonte Nova consortium, made up of building firms OAS and Odebrecht, and responsible for the work.
The construction permit has already been sought from the Superintendence of Control and Ordering of Land Use (Sucom). The institution has also received an appraisal of the environmental impact, which was completed about a month ago, which includes the study of impact on the neighborhood (Estudo de Impacto da Vizinhança - EIV).
The Government of the State of Bahia now expects the stadium to be delivered by December 2012, for the Confederations Cup, to be held in the middle of 2013.
